Hyderabad: Women police personnel are making the best out of adverse conditions at their police stations. The station house officers are taking initiatives to ensure that couples who approach the police seeking divorces, reach a compromise. The teams, comprising women staff including counselors, are largely successful.

The Central Zone women’s police station (WPS) at the Central Crime Station, registered 404 cases in 2014, 770 in 2015 and 89 this year. Compared to others, its jurisdiction is wider covering East and West zones.

In North Zone, 205 cases were registered in 2014, 255 in 2015 and 69 this year. The staff here has about a 55 per cent success rate in ensuring wives and husbands reach a compromise.
