Bengaluru: Commercial street becomes Happy Street' for a day!

The campaign was organised by the Bangalore Commercial Street Association (BCA) to support the plastic ban.

Bengaluru: It was back to merry making on Commercial Street as it witnessed another Happy Street event on Sunday. The last one was organised in February.

“My friends told me that I should come here with my daughter early in the morning to experience a different Commercial Street, which is always chocked with traffic,” said 42-year-old Keshav Murthy, who had come with his daughter. Apart from all the fun-filled activities, the visitors and shoppers were also made aware of harmful effects of plastic bags.

The campaign was organised by the Bangalore Commercial Street Association (BCA) who were promoting the Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB) campaign among citizens and shop owners to support the plastic ban.

The street wore a different look between 7am and 2pm, as part of the Happy Streets Day, supported by the traffic police and Bangalore Commercial Street Association.

Apart from yoga sessions, the other attractions included cycling, fitness session by celebrity fitness expert Vanitha Ashok, waste management workshop by Swachagraha and Zumba.

From street magicians entertaining the crowd to tattooing, juggling, tug-of-war, box jumps and rope games, there was a lot in store. Huli Vesha too was performed in the morning.
