Dust on Hyderabad roads rises beyond safe limits

As per the Pollution Control Board, on Monday, Sanathnagar recorded 60.9 microgram of dust particles per metre cube in the air.

Hyderabad: Motorists who had to tackle heavy rains and waterlogging till Sunday, faced heavy dust on city roads on Monday as the rains stopped. No sweeping was done by the GHMC sanitation department.

As per the Pollution Control Board, on Monday, Sanathnagar recorded 60.9 microgram of dust particles per metre cube in the air. As per PCB standards, dust beyond 60 micrograms is not bearable. The data was registered at the Telangana PCB headquarters at Sanathnagar where the roads are not as bad as at Kukatpally, Moo-sapet, Balanagar, Secund-erabad, Begumpet, Dilsu-khnagar, Lakdikapul and other parts of the city. Officials said that these areas would have had much more dust. Resident medical officer Dr M. Ram Rathod at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital suggested that road users wear goggles or sunglasses and masks to protect themselves.
