NIA court to hear Jagan attack case on May 11

Vijayawada: National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court has deferred the next hearing of the knife attack on then leader of opposition and now Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam Airport to May 11.

The deferment came in the wake of Andhra Pradesh High Court recently ordering promotions and transfers of several judges across the state, including the one hearing the Jagan Mohan Reddy's knife attack case.

A. Satyanand is to take over as metropolitan sessions judge as well as judge of NIA special court on May 1. As he will require time to study the case, the next hearing of the knife attack on Jagan Mohan Reddy has been rescheduled to May 11.

Significantly, in the earlier hearing, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s counsel had asked the NIA special court to order a thorough inquiry in the knife attack case by including the conspiracy hatched before the attack.

The counsel also sought that the Chief Minister be exempted from personal appearance in the court and the case be heard through video conferencing.
