Telangana power artisans withdraw strike after talks with authorities

Hyderabad: Artisans of power utilities unconditionally called off their strike on Wednesday. After successful discussions with Transco, Genco chairman and managing director D. Prabhakar Rao, the Telangana Electricity Employees Union and Ithehadul employees union agreed to withdraw their strike notices. The union leaders asked the artisans, who were on strike, to join duties immediately.

Of the 23,000 artisans, only around 2,000 participated in the strike, which began on Tuesday demanding a hike in salaries and other demands.

Speaking to reporters, Telangana state electricity employees union general secretary P. Sailu said that they called off the strike and will join duties. 200 artisans who were terminated for participating in the strike on the first day on Tuesday will be reinstituted in next 10 days, he said.

Meanwhile, MIM MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and union leaders discussed the issues of artisans with D. Prabhakar Rao and Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited chairman and managing director G. Raghuma Reddy on Wednesday.
