Car catches fire near AP CM's house

Police has started an inquiry as the incident occurred near Mr Naidu's residence.

Vijayawada: A Karnataka-registered car caught fire while travelling on the Karakatta at Undavalli village, Tadepalli mandal of Guntur district. The spot is near Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's residence and security personnel went on the alert.

No one was injured while the car was gutted. The incident caused a long traffic jam on the Karakatta. Police has started an inquiry as the incident occurred near Mr Naidu's residence.

The driver alerted the passengers, including one Purushotham Reddy of Karnataka who was travelling to Vijayawada from Raichur and all of them evacuated the vehicle. The fire brigade rushed to the spot but the car had burnt down by then. It is suspected that the car caught fire due to a short circuit in the air-conditioning unit.
