Hyderabad: The Telangana Telugu Desam has decided not to contest the Palair Assembly bypoll and instead support Congress candidate Ms Sucharitha Reddy as requested by TPCC leaders.
TD (TS) president Mr L. Ramana on Sunday announced the party’s decision stating that the TD had responded positively to the request made by the Congress to support Ms Reddy to make the election unanimous. He said the Congress leaders had approached the TD and requested them to allow the family member of the deceased Congress MLA to contest the poll unopposed. He also said the decision of the party, to support the Congress candidate, was limited only to Palair.
TPCC working president Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka thanked the TD for honouring their request. He said the TD was the second party after the YSR Congress to have backed the Congress candidate. He added that Congress leaders would now approach the CPM and CPI national leadership to prevail upon them to support Ms Reddy.
