Telangana cancels Security Printing Press contract

Mr Rao rejected any hike and reportedly expressed ire at the Press for failing to honour its earlier commitment.

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has cancelled the contract awarded to the Security Printing Press for printing of electronic pattadar passbooks with enhanced security features for distribution to over 72 lakh farmers across the state on March 11. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao took this decision after the Security Printing Press sought Rs 250 for printing each passbook against the earlier agreement of Rs 200.

Mr Rao rejected any hike and reportedly expressed ire at the Press for failing to honour its earlier commitment. The CM directed revenue officials to call for fresh tenders. Following this, the officials issued fresh notification inviting tenders. The CM was upset at the Press delaying the printing of passbooks which would in turn affect the distibution of passbooks on March 11. However, he asked officials to speed up the process by handing over the job to private players and ensure the deadline was met.
