Telangana Dairy gets notice from Andhra Pradesh Dairy over 'Vijaya'

Nirmala said the expert committee has allowed both the states to use the Vijaya and cow logo.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation has issued a “cease and desist” notice to its Telangana counterpart asking it to stop the usage of its registered trademark Vijaya and cow logo for marketing the latter’s products. The notice asked the Telangana state Dairy Development Cooperative Federation “to cease and desist forthwith from marketing milk and other dairy products under any trademark, which is identical with APDDCF registered trademark Vijaya or cow mark which consists of similar or deceptively similar marks with a prefix akin to Vijaya or cow mark.”

The AP federation said that if its counterpart continues to use Vijaya or cow mark, “it will be constrained to approach the appropriate forums/ authorities to restrain you from encroaching upon our statutory and common law rights”. APDDCF managing director J. Murali said “Since no agreement was reached regarding the usage of Vijaya brand and its logo, the joint board opined that both points of view should be placed before the expert committee”. TSDDCF MD K. Nirmala said the expert committee has allowed both the states to use the Vijaya and cow logo.
