Mullapally Ramachandran dares CM Pinarayi Vijayan for debate

The UDF had ruled for five years, implementing many pro- people initiatives.

KOZHIKODE: KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran, MP, has challenged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for a debate on development as the LDF Government reaches 1,000 days of governance. "Pinarayi Vijayan has done nothing in these 1000 days and made Sabarimala a tense spot to conceal his failure in governance," he said while inaugurating the UDF collectorate siege here on Wednesday.

''The UDF had ruled for five years, implementing many pro-people initiatives. Kochi Metro, Kannur International Airport, Kollam bypass and the overbridges in Kozhikode are the projects initiated by UDF, '' the KPCC chief claimed. "CPM is playing with fire. CPM branch secretary hurled stone at a mosque in Perambra," he said.

Mr Ramachandran said that UDF has picked candidates for all the 20 constituencies in the state.

In the siege, mediapersons were manhandled and abused. 'Madhyamam' senior reporter C.P Bineesh was manhandled by UDF workers while he tried to speak with a person who was barred from entering the PSC office at the collectorate. An online reporter's dress was torn. The phone of a Health Inspector Beena Pradeep was smashed by the angry activists. Another lensman was threatened while taking pictures.

The mob didn't pay heed to the voices of DCC president T. Sidique and Congress leader K. Praveen Kumar. Later, the KPCC president and M.K. Raghavan, MP, expressed regret and promised that action would be taken against the errant workers. People who came to collectorate for various needs were affected by the protest. M.K Raghavan MP, DCC president T. Sidique among other spoke.
