HD Deve Gowda fit stops Sindhuri transfer from Hassan?

EC said the officers could be transferred only after the completion of the process before the model code of conduct came into effect.

Bengaluru: Hours after IAS officer and Hassan DC, Rohini Sindhuri Dasari, and deputy commissioners of Haveri and Ramanagara and several deputy commissioners were summarily transferred, and in the case of Ms Dasari, objections were raised by JD (S) supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda, who strongly criticised the government’s decision, the Karnataka government has put on hold the transfer after objections were raised by the Election Commissioner.

The ECI reminded the state government of its earlier letter sent out on January 17 and said the government could not transfer officers involved in summary revision of voters list. It also said the officers could be transferred only after the completion of the process before the model code of conduct came into effect.

Three DCs were transferred along with other officers on Monday. However, the transfer of Hassan DC, Rohini Sindhuri Dasari ran into controversy after it was raised by H.D. Deve Gowda who said he would no longer share the dais with the Chief Minister and was giving the Mahamastakabhisheka a miss as he would have to meet the CM.

When contacted, chief secretary, K. Rathna Prabha acknowledged to Deccan Chronicle that she had received the Election Commission letter. "Following this, we have sent a letter to ECI seeking approval for the transfers, Till then, the transfers have been put on hold," the chief secretary said.
