Parents meet Hadia in Salem college

The girl's father had opposed the marriage, fearing she might be recruited to join the IS later.

Salem: The parents of Hadia alias Akhila, at the centre of an alleged love-jihad controversy in Kerala and who was in last November allowed by the Supreme court to resume her studies in a private Siddha and Homeopathic college here, met their daughter in the college campus on Monday evening.

It may be recalled that Akhila, who had changed her name to Hadia, had married her lover Safeen Jahan, but her marriage was annulled by the Kerala High court, following which the issue has gone to the Apex court.

The girl's father had opposed the marriage, fearing she might be recruited to join the IS later.

Even as Hadia had resumed her studies at the college, her parents, Ashokan and Ponnamma, accompanied by some policemen from Kerala, came to the college today, took the principal's permission and met and had a chat with their daughter for about an hour, sources said.
