Hyderabad: 10 foreign, five local students caught cheating

Semester exams began for postgraduate students of Osmania University on Monday.

Hyderabad: Ten foreign and five local students were caught cheating in the semester exam on Monday at Arts College Osmania University. The 10 foreign students were from Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria.

The students were caught cheating through chits and mobile phones. College principal D. Ravinder warned the students and said that if they were caught a second time, they would be debarred from writing all exams this semester.

Semester exams began for postgraduate students of Osmania University on Monday.

The 15 students were taking their examination in Master of Arts (MA) third semester in subjects like Urdu and linguistics.

Though cellphones are prohibited in the examination hall, they were found using them.

The principal said that 634 students appeared for the third semester exams from 22 different departments. Of them 15 were caught cheating by the special squad.

“We have warned the students for the first time but they will be barred if they repeat it. I have implemented strict monitoring with the help of my team and we caught the students cheating. We have also alerted other students to avoid such malpractices in the university examinations,” Mr Ravinder said.
