KLIP: L&T to Cover Repair Costs as Pillar Sinks, Says Irrigation Department

Hyderabad: The Medigadda project irrigation department said in a statement that L&T, which is still at work at the barrage would pay for the repairs.

In a statement on Sunday, the department said: “When we observed the bridge after a huge sound was heard at the site, we found Pillar No. 20 had sunk. Relevant repairs will be taken up by the company based on technical studies at its expense as the other works at the project are still being taken up by L&T. "

It noted that said: "The project had withstood the highest flood so far of 28.7 lakh cusecs and it has been designed to withstand 28.25 lakh cusecs flow.”

Last year, when the motors at the Medigadda barrage were submerged, the state government had claimed that the expenses would be borne by the Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL). The cost of repair has not been made public, sources said. “After 24 hours there is still no clarity on the sinking of pillars. Are technical teams are still looking into it?”
