Telangana seeing 39 degrees C already, Anantapur touches 40 degrees C

Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district recorded 400C on Tuesday and this was the highest recorded.

Hyderabad: A few districts across the two Telugu-speaking states have already recorded temperatures nearing 400C. AP’s Anantapur district recorded 400C on Tuesday and this was the highest recorded.

In Telangana meanwhile, Mahbubnagar reported a maximum of 390C. These are the highest readings so far within the first month of summer. Overall, dry weather prevailed across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with Hyderabad recording a maximum of 370C.

Met officials say the forecast is mostly of dry weather conditions continuing to prevail across most districts. During the third week of March, the two states had witnessed sudden drops in day temperatures due to an upper air circulation.

However, the effect from this phenomenon seems to have passed as the trough is currently positioned in the lower levels of the atmosphere. Easterly winds sweeping in from the direction of Lakshadweep towards North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and across interior Karnataka at 1.5 km above the mean sea level persist.

Meanwhile, light rains continued in isolated places of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. However, dry weather remained in majority of the areas of the state.

Cheedikada, Koyyuru, Gudibanda, Madugula and Butchayyapeta received more than 1 cm rainfall on Tuesday. Light showers are expected to continue for another few days.
