Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has disbursed Rs 560 crore to private hospitals and nursing homes as part of the Aarogyasri Healthcare Scheme dues following which the latter have decided to call of the strike.

The Telangana Aarogyasri Hospitals Association and Telangana Super Speciality Hospitals Association have agreed to take in patients from Wednesday.

Health minister Etala Rajender said, “We will release amounts every month to small hospitals so that they can continue the scheme without any pending bills. There is also a necessity felt to review the MoUs which was signed by hospitals in 2007 and 2012.” The load on government hospitals increased as the private hospitals were not admitting patients insisting that the government first clear the dues. For the first time, private hospitals abstained from taking patients for five days at a stretch.
