Vijayawada: Boy dies after tree branch falls on him

The incident occurred at around 6 am when there was not much activity on the street.

Vijayawada: In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old boy died after the branch of a tree fell on him. Chavali Sri Harsha, a native of Tirumalavari Street in Satyanarayanapuram, was a student of Class VIII. He had gone on his bicycle to a shop in his neighbourhood, in Kommavari Street, to buy a packet of milk. While he was on his way back home, a major branch of a eucalyptus tree located inside Sishu Vihar School suddenly broke and fell on him.

When the branch fell on him, a sharp stalk pierced through his throat and pinned him down. The incident occurred at around 6 am when there was not much activity on the street. The boy was unable to call for help because his throat was pierced, and locals did not notice him there because he was entirely hidden by the leaves.

By the time people saw that there was a boy trapped there, Harsha had died due to excessive bleeding. The Satyanarayanapuram Police rushed to the spot and shifted the boy to a government hospital in the hope of saving him, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Sri Harsha’s father, Srinivasa Chakravarti, has shown grit in times of sorrow. He has donated his son’s eyes. He says that his loss is irreparable, but his son will live on through his eyes.
