Collector Neetu Prasad prepared a draft report over this exercise.

Karimnagar: Notwithstanding the ongoing protests over merger of certain mandals in the proposed new districts, the process of trifurcating district has almost come to come an end. Collector Neetu Prasad prepared a draft report over this exercise. With this exercise reaching the final stage, two more districts, Jagtial and Sircilla, will be a reality soon. It is learnt that Ms Neetu Prasad along with some officials worked on the draft report till midnight of Sunday. As per the report, creation of 17 new mandals was proposed. At present the district has 57 mandals. This means, total number of mandals will become 74.

Among them, 13 mandals are going to be included in the proposed new districts situated in neighbouring districts. The remaining 61 mandals will be allocated to Karimnagar, Jagtial and Sircilla districts. Karimnagar district will have 27 mandals, while the new entities would account for 20 and 14 mandals respectively. The decision on controversial merger of Choppadandi, Ganga-dhara and Ramagudu is left to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Five mandals such as Malhar Rao, Kataram Mahamuttaram, Maha-devapur and Palimela, one of new mandals, will be merged with the proposed Bhupalapalli district to be formed out of Warangal. Similarly, six mandals namely Huzu-rabad, Kamalapur, Jammikunta, Illantha-kunta (New), Elkath-urthy, Bheema-devarapalli, will become part of Warangal district. At the same time, Koheda and Husnabad mandals would be integrated with the new Siddipet district. Besides, seven villages of Bejjenki mandal will also be included in this new entity. However, authorities are likely to make certain changes in the draft report as per suggestions of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao.

Meanwhile, division of work force for deploying in these three districts has also been completed. A total of 7,732 employees are working with various departments in the district’s administration mechanism. Out of them, 2,085 employees were allocated to Karimnagar, while Jagtial and Sircilla districts were earmarked with 2,072 and 2,053 employees, respectively.

People of several mandals continued to stage protests, opposing merger of their places in new districts. Residents of Gangadhara mandal conducted Vanta Vaarpu on Jagtial-Karimnagar road, against the inclusion of their mandal in Sircilla district. Citizens of Kodimial mandal represented Jagtial sub-collector, urging him not to integrate their mandal in the new entity.
