Bengaluru: Eight school children have been killed and 12 others injured in a road accident in Karnataka's Kundapur on Tuesday.
The accident took place at Mohadi crossing when a private bus, plying from Byndoor to Kundapur, collided with a Maruti Omni van. The injured have been rushed to Manipal hospital.
The students belonged to Don Bosco School in Kundapur, which is 400 km from Bengaluru.
In the accident the driver, as well as a teacher, have also sustained injuries. The Gangolli police have registered a case in this regard.
According to police, eight children were killed on the spot. "Among those injured, one child is critical. The other children and the van driver are out of danger," a police official was quoted as saying.
