Police sources also said the assailants had reportedly called on Rudresh's phone.

BENGALURU: The city police special teams investigating RSS activist Rudresh's murder have claimed they got some vital clues by way of eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage retrieved from a nearby medical shops near the crime spot on Kamaraj Road.

The footage was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory and the technical wing had used image enhancing software to magnify crucial visuals and sketches of the assailants have been prepared.

They have been circulated among the investigating teams, who have intensified their hunt for the assailants.

Police sources also said the assailants had reportedly called on Rudresh’s phone and asked him to come to the busy Kamaraj Road, minutes before he was hacked to death on Sunday. The cops are analyzing the call detail records of Rudresh’s phone.

However, top police officers heading the investigations, including Police Commissioner N.S. Megharikh, have refused to divulge any details regarding the investigation, but claimed it was moving in the right direction.

“Investigating officers have questioned a number of persons related to this incident and our men are working in the right direction,” said P. Harisekaran, Additional Commissioner (East Division).

BJP sets one-week deadline
The state BJP has set a one-week deadline to the state government to arrest the culprits behind the murder of RSS worker R. Rudresh, who was hacked to death near Commercial Street on Sunday.

Taking part in a rally to protest against the murder on Wednesday, BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa said that the state government has totally failed to maintain law and order. If the police fail to nab the culprits on time, the BJP will call for a statewide bandh, he warned.

“Former minister V. Srinivasa Prasad has exposed the chief minister saying that leaders who pay money are included in the cabinet. It shows how this government functions,” he criticised.

The government does not have money to cremate the poor, but has enough to build a steel flyover in Bengaluru at a cost of Rs 1,700 crore, he said.

An attempt was made to set fire to the Lokayuta office. It was to destroy files pertaining to corruption cases related to the government, he alleged.

Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar said that the crime rate is the highest during the Congress rule. Karnataka has become a jungle raj, he commented.

Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, former deputy chief minister R. Ashok, MP Shobha Karandlaje and others took part in the rally.
