Hindustan Aeronautical Limited staff society says church illegal

They alleged that the place of worship had come up illegally, and that the court had ruled in their favour.

Hyderabad: Employees of Hindustan Aeronautical Limited, a public sector enterprise, approached the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to demolish the Calvary Temple after they reportedly secured a court verdict.

They alleged that the place of worship had come up illegally, and that the court had ruled in their favour. They staged a protest in front of the GHMC office demanding that officials take action against the encroachers and pull down the place on Monday.

According to a complaint from the Hindustan Aeronautics Employees Cooperative Housing Society, they purchased plots in Hafeezpet village in 1981-82 which was under the jurisdiction of GHMC, Chandanagar.

Ms G. Uma Devi, one of the complainants, said, “In the same place Calvary Temple, Vedere Estates, Shravan Kumar and others constructed illegal arches, shops for commercial purposes.” The cooperative society demanded that these allegedly illegal structures be demolished.

The cooperative society members said that they had approached the High Court in the matter, which, they said, had directed the municipal corporation to take necessary steps to remove and raze the allegedly unauthorised constructions.

The cooperative society members said the High Court had ordered the GHMC officials to complete the demolition of the allegedly illegal structures within a fortnight.
