Jeevan Reddy calls for conservation of lakes in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Calling for construction of protective ring trains around Osmansagar and Himayatsagar as promised by the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, MLC T. Jeevan Reddy said constructions are coming up even in buffer zones of the lakes which is detrimental to the surroundings.

“Cancellation of GO 111 is against Supreme Court directions and National Green Tribunal guidelines. It will be challenged legally,” he said.

“Looks like Somesh Kumar gave the suggestion after he was made chief adviser to Chief Minister (K. Chandrashekar Rao). Was Telangana state formed to help BRS leaders live lavish lifestyles in farm houses? A committee was formed to control pollution and form bioconservation zones under the Chief Secretary. That report has to be made public. Conversion of lands will now bring Rs. 10,000 crore to the government,” he said.

There are 30,000 acres of government lands in the area. They will be sold or allotted, in keeping with Rao’s plans. Looks like he wants to sell Telangana state as he is unsure of returning to power,” he said.

“Is the Land Ceiling Act brought by P.V. Narasimha Rao in vogue or not? Paying obeisance to him won’t suffice. Hundreds of acres of land have already changed hands from farmers. A white paper should be released on the land transactions which happened after BRS came to power for the second time,” Jeevan Reddy said.
