Rudresh's murder: Police question over 50 people

Six teams are investigating the case and they are looking into all angles, says the police.

Bengaluru: Special teams probing the murder of RSS functionary and BJP Shivajinagar unit secretary Rudresh R. have reportedly questioned over 50 people in connection with the case.

The police said that they were looking into all angles, including his business dealings, old rivalry and communal issues. Sources said that the six teams formed to crack the case have been entrusted different responsibilities. “Each team has been assigned a particular job and they will focus only on that. Senior officials are coordinating information from all sources and are deciding the future course of the investigation,” an official said.

So far, more than 50 people, including those who allegedly nursed rivalry against Rudresh and rowdy sheeters, have been questioned. But there is no breakthrough yet in the case, police sources admitted.

Meanwhile, as part of the probe, the city police are in touch with police forces from neighbouring states. “A team has also gone to Kerala, where similar murders occurred in recent years. The team will exchange information about those cases with the Kerala police,” the official said.

“At this juncture, we are not ruling out any possibility. We giving all angles equal importance and the investigation is on the right track. We will need some more time to crack the case, as there are hardly any clues about the assailants,” the official said.

Communal angle suspected

The police, however, strongly believe that there is a communal angle to the case.
“We have also gathered details of similar offences. There are striking similarities in all these murder cases. Though we can’t confirm this at this stage, we will work on those lines, once all personal angles are eliminated,” a police officer said.
