Hyderabad: The provisional certificate for the commercial operation of Hyderabad Metro Rail Stages 1 and 2 has become a bone of contention between L&T and Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL).
According to L&T sources, the company has written to the state government asking for the provisional certificate for Stages 1 and 2. HMRL is insisting that to issue the provisional certificate, 75 per cent of the corridor works have to be completed.
L&T said that as per the agreement, the company has to complete all the works within 90 days after issuing the provisional certificate. The sources added that the company was ready to follow this clause.
According to the sources, Mr P. Ravi Shankar, head of project planning & contracts, L&T, had written to the state government and had quoted the findings of independent engineer, which had put to rest all matters related to a safe and reliable commercial operation of the Metro Rail service.
The sources added that the company would complete the remaining works within 90 days from the date of issuing the provisional certificate.
In the letter, Mr Ravi Shankar noted that the completion of 75 per cent work on the corridor had no connection of with the safe and reliable commercial operation of the rail system.
The sources noted that the government had deleted the condition for completion of 75 per cent of the corridor work for issuing the provisional certificate.
The letter also sought the support of the government to make the public-private partnership model successful in the state.
