Telangana government sets eyes on ULC land

The government would take over ULC land that had not been regularised.

Hyderabad: The district administrations of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy on Saturday stated that the government would take over ULC land that had not been regularised. Ranga Reddy collector M. Raghunandan Rao said the land would be used for construction of two-bedroom houses or government offices or could be put up for auction.

Revenue officials have identified over 600 acres in Ranga Reddy and 71 acres in Hyderabad district as vacant ULC lands. The government had issued GO-92 to regularise these land parcels. Mr Raghunandan said the administration has details of nearly 5,700 individuals in possession of vacant ULC land. Around 80 per cent of the plots are smaller than 250 sq. yds.

He said June 25 was the last date for the scheme. A committee led by the RDO will dispose of the applications within 90 days. Applicants should pay 25 per cent of the government value of the land to get ownership. Hyderabad collector Rahul Bojja said the government was expecting to collect up to Rs 1,000 crore.
