Bengaluru: Hoodi blows up again, it's raining power cuts

The fresh round of power outages triggered a storm on social media.

Bengaluru: Before the pre-monsoon showers hit the city, Bengaluru’s power utility, Bescom, found it easy to blame power cuts on the lack of rains and water in state dams. Now there are power cuts for a different reason-there’s too much rain and Bescom can’t get its act together with major parts of the city experiencing recurrent power outages, one lasting more than eight hours on Thursday!

According to sources, an ‘Insulator Spot’ burst at two transformers in Hoodi Substation setting off a spate of power cuts in nearby areas including Shivajinagar and Indiranagar, which come under the Bescom East Circle, replicating the poor power situation on Wednesday.

The fresh round of power outages triggered a storm on social media. Swarnima Debnath posted her predicament on Facebook saying, “No update in Gottigere? Why the hell there is no power since 10 AM? What are you doing Bescom?” Gunavathi Arunkumar too vent her frustration on Bescom saying, “Why again no power in Ulsoor area what work do u guys have post an 8 hr power cut?”
