In Ernakulam region, the travel cards can be bought from 10 out of total 21 units, including the main depot.

Kochi: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will introduce travel cards from Thursday that would enable passengers to enjoy unlimited travel for a month.

The pre-paid cards will be of four types – bronze card (Rs1000), silver card (Rs 1500), gold card (Rs 3000) and premium cards (Rs 5000).

A bronze card will allow commuters to travel in the City, City Fast, Ordinary and Limited Stop Ordinary services within a district. The other cards can be used for travel across the state. A commuter with a Silver Card can travel in the City, City Fast, Ordinary Limited Stop and JnNURM non AC services.

The gold card of Rs 3000 is for long-distance travelers who can travel anywhere in Fast and Super-Fast services. Those opting for the Premium cards can travel in all buses except the Multi-axle and Super Deluxe services.

“Commuters who opt for the Rs 5000 card can travel in JnNURM AC buses too. The validity of the cards will be one month and can be renewed after that or as and when the card value amount gets exhausted,” a senior officer said.

In Ernakulam region, the travel cards can be bought from 10 out of total 21 units, including the main depot.

“The cards will be of the size of an ATM card and will contain the passenger’s name and identity card number. When travelling, a commuter is liable to show the travel card along with the identity proof mentioned in the card.

The KSRTC aims to woo more commuters to travel in its buses with the initiative and, it will have many side benefits like no issue of “change”.
