Security to be beefed up along Hyderabad Metro Rail route

Metro Rail from Nagole to Miyapur with its 26 stations is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi on November 28.

Hyderabad: A massive awareness campaign will be taken up by the police in the surroundings of Metro Rail as a precautionary measure in the run up to the inauguration.

Metro Rail from Nagole to Miyapur with its 26 stations is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28.

Metro passes through the Rachakonda, Hyderabad and Cyberabad police station areas. There are several high-rise buildings on either side of Metro Rail route.

“Soon, an enumeration will be taken up in all the buildings enroute Metro Rail. It is just a precautionary measure,” said Ms. B Sumathi DCP (North).

Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and a few other dignitaries are expected to travel by Metro Rail.

“There are two reasons for enumeration. One is long-term security measures and the PM visit is the other. We have our plans,” said another police official.

Mr N Bujanga Rao, assistant commissioner of police, Kukatpally, said that a massive awareness programme for the residents and security guards of commercial and residential buildings will be taken up.

“It is a preventive measure. Our aim is to ensure that no anti-social elements disturb Metro services,” said Mr Rao.
