IMA to improve quality of CM health scheme with NABH help

Indian Medical Association announced its association with IBHAR and Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations.

CHENNAI: Indian Medical Association announced its association with IBHAR and Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations to implement process leading to NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) accreditation of its members. After the Tamil Nadu State Government, which implements the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) stressed on the need for all the healthcare providers to be certified by the NABH, IMA has taken a step ahead to improve quality of treatment under the scheme. NABH certification will look into the availability of ramps, safety equipment in case of fire, cleanliness, quality of services and ambience, as some of the standards of certification. NABH certification will be mandatory by June 2018 as the insurance authority IRDAI has passed a regulation for all the hospitals to have the accreditation.

“With less than a year left to achieve the objective of certification of all hospitals and healthcare providers in the state, IMA with over 4,200 members in Tamil Nadu has roped IBHAR to use their proven technology based implementation to speed up accreditation by training programmes and use of mobile-based applications,” said Dr N. Ravishankar, President, IMA, Tamil Nadu.

The IBHAR approach will involve a cluster training programme that includes workshops to train doctors, nurses and healthcare providers, along with mobile based applications to implement the health care providers Indian Medical Association announces its association with IBHAR and Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations to implement NABH accreditation for hospitals and healthcare organisations.

This would be further strengthened by CAHO with one or more people in the hospital trained as a certified professional for quality implementation in hospitals. The process of a check into the quality of service provided will be continuously monitored and updated.
