Rajasthan's policemen go on leave, protest salary cut

The policemen are up in arms after speculation that their salary would reduce after revision of pay scales by the government.

Jaipur: Angry over proposed reduction in their salaries, Rajasthan’s policemen are on protest for the last one week. They even refused to give guard of honour to Union home minister Rajnath Singh who had come to inaugurate West Zone Regional Training Centre of the Intelligence Bureau in Jodhpur.

More than 250 policemen proceeded on mass leave among them were eight jawans who were chosen to give guard of honour to the Union home minister. Same day, a similar embarrassment awaited additional director general of police M.L. Lathar as the policemen refused to give him the guard of honour when he visited the Jodhpur Police Commissionerate. Confirming the incident ADG Lathar said that those involved in this act were recruited after 2004.

The policemen are up in arms after speculation that their salary would reduce after revision of pay scales by the government.

In a Whatsapp message that went viral a few days ago it was mentioned that the new order would reduce policemen’s pay scale form the existing Rs 24,000 to Rs 19,000.
