Chennai: Accusing Pakistan of “attempting to fish in troubled waters,” Union urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday ruled out any discussion or negotiation on Kashmir and categorically stated that Kashmir is an integral part of India.
Pointing out there are certain problems which need to be addressed, he asserted that Pakistan would not succeed in its game plan. “Kashmir is a settled issue and it is an integral part of India. There cannot be any discussion or negotiation on that,” he said reacting to the outbreak of violence in Kashmir following the death of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani.
Alleging that terrorism being sponsored from “outside has spread its tentacles” the minister who was in the city appealed to the entire world community to unite to put down terrorism of any kind. Arguing that politics on terrorism was unacceptable, Mr Naidu indicated the Centre would not compromise on Kashmir.
“Our neighour Pakistan is always trying to fish in troubled waters. It will never succeed. There are certain internal problems. These need to be address,” Mr Naidu said during his brief chat with presspersons here.
On the move by the Centre to bring about a Uniform Civil Code, Mr Naidu said the BJP-led government would not thrust such a Code upon the people. “But time has come to discuss the issue. Article 44 of our constitution has suggested a Uniform Civil Code for the country,” he added.
