Andhra Pradesh: Works worth Rs 2 crore at Durga temple

Vijayawada: The Kanakadurga Durga Temple Board sanctioned works worth Rs 2 crore.The Board convened a meeting on Thursday to discuss about the arrangements for the Bhavani Deekshalu. The members discuss proposals regarding the development works and accorded approval.

The Bhavani Deekshalu will come to an end in December when a large number of devotees are expected to visit the temple. In view of this, the Board approved the necessary arrangements. Works worth Rs 98.8 lakh were sanctioned, as part of arrangements, at the entrance points near the temple hill. Works worth Rs 38 lakh would be taken up at Subramanyeswara Swamy temple, Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned for the arrangement of CC cameras.

Funds have also been sanctioned for lighting and electrification works, temporary sheds for the devotees and other arrangements. On Thursday, four high-speed lifts have been inaugurated at Maha Mandapam by principal secretary of endowments department, Manmohan Singh. As per the schedule, minister for endowments Manikyalarao and other MLAs have been invited for the inauguration of the lifts. However, due to busy schedules, they did not attend. The Board planned to complete these works before Bhavani Deekshalu and did it. Likewise, they want to complete all the proposed works before December when a large number of devotees are expected to visit the temple.
