No action on Thrissur MCH sting

Cops to hand over complaint against surgeon to vigilance.

Thrissur: Police here will be handing over the complaint filed against an orthopaedic surgeon in Thrissur MCH who was seen prescribing expensive medicines and plaster for a hairline fracture to a patient who feigned illness during a sting operation conducted by a group of youth.

DCP C.S. Shahul Hameed who is handling the complaint told DC that the statement of the complainant Somdev Rajan of Chiyyaram, who organised the sting operation, was recorded and as it was a matter of alleged corruption, it would be forwarded to the vigilance.

Meanwhile, Mr Rajan said that he had already handed over the complaint and sting video to prove his claims against the surgeon to Vigilance DySP A. Ramachandran on Thursday, but no action was taken yet.

Thrissur MCH principal M. K. Ajayakumar said he had received a complaint based on the sting video and prescriptions of the orthopaedic surgeon Vineesh Senan.

After verifying the footage, the internal vigilance wing of the MCH would conduct an inquiry and report to the government if the claim were genuine, he told DC.

Fifteen people had participated in the sting on October 4. Vineesh Senan had reacted to the complaint saying that allegations were baseless and a team of doctors who were upset over his sincere work at MCH might be behind it.
