Hyderabad: Kidney, liver transplant on 2 patients

The patients are now recovering in the intensive care unit after the transplant.

Hyderabad: The Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences has carried out a kidney and liver transplant on Tuesday from the cadaver donations which were received at Osmania General Hospital under the Jeevandan scheme of the government.

A 52-year-old K Sudhakar Reddy from Medak district underwent liver transplant and a 35-year-old Zeenat Unnisa from Uperpally in Ranga Reddy district underwent kidney transplant.

Both got registered under the Jeevandan organ donation scheme of the state government, were in critical condition and urgently required organs. The Jeevandan scheme follows an allotment system and it was the turn of NIMS hospital this time, and hence these patients received the organs. The patients are now recovering in the intensive care unit after the transplant.
