Rights body moves Hyderabad High Court on encounter

The petitioner urged the court to direct registration of murder cases against the police personnel involved in the incident.

Hyderabad: The Civil Liberties Committee on Friday moved the Hyderabad High Court seeking to declare the action of police in killing eight persons in the early hours of December 14 at Nelamadugu village in Kothagudem district as illegal.
Mr G. Lakshman president of the Civil Liberties Committee, moved the PIL stating that the police had killed the eight persons alleging that they are belonged to the Bata dalam of the CPI(ML) Chandra Pulla Reddy faction.

He said through the police claimed there was an exchange of fire, no police personnel was injured in the exchange of fire.

The petitioner urged the court to direct registration of murder cases against the police personnel involved in the incident, and direct the authorities to conduct postmortem as per the NHRC guidelines.
