Telangana: Was urged to change title, says professor Kancha Ilaiah

Addressing the media at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Prof Ilaiah said: If I die, Arya Vysyas will be responsible for my death.

Hyderabad: Professor Kancha Ilaiah, who has been caught in a huge controversy over the title of his latest book, on Friday countered criticism from the Arya Vysya community with a challenge.

Addressing the media at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Prof Ilaiah said: “If I die, Arya Vysyas will be responsible for my death.”

He said that some people from the BJP told him that it would have been better if he had selected a different title for his book. “I challenge the BJP that I will change the title of my book if they accept my demands,” Prof. Ilaiah said.

He said: “64 per cent of India’s economy is in the hands of Arya Vysyas and they are involved in brokerage businesses. I will change the title of my book to Arya Vysyas if they agree to give 5 per cent of the jobs in their industries to people from the other castes. Farmer suicides will be a thing of the past if the Arya Vysyas donate 5 per cent of what they donate to the BJP to farmers.”
