KSRTC bus catches fire on KR Puram flyover, none hurt

Preliminary investigation revealed that a technical snag in the engine triggered sparks, which led to a fire.

Bengaluru: As many as 20 passengers of a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus had a miraculous escape early Wednesday when the bus got engulfed in flames on ITI flyover in K.R. Puram.

The incident happened around 5 am and the fire spread so fast that the sleeper coach bus, coming to the city from Tirupati, got gutted within minutes.

Luckily, none of the 20 passengers of the bus sustained any injuries, thanks to the alert driver, who woke up all the passengers and help them de-board.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a technical snag in the engine triggered sparks, which led to a fire. The driver and the passengers informed the police as well as the fire and emergency officials who doused the fire.

The accident affected the vehicle movement on the ITI flyover for some time.

No complaint registered
K.R. Puram traffic police under whose jurisdiction the incident happened said that KSRTC has so far registered no complaint.

“The police officials reached the spot and helped the fire and emergency officials in dousing the fire. We do not know about the registration number of the bus neither the driver’s name as the KSRTC has not filed any complaint. We too did not register any case as there was no causality or damage,” the police said.
