Floods damage ₹3 crore PDS grain in Manthani

KARIMNAGAR: Floods in Bokkalavagu of Manthani inundated several areas of the town including the godown at the agricultural market, where rice and other products meant for distribution through ration shops had been kept.

The entire stock worth about ₹3 crore got damaged as a result. Following this, officials of the civil supplies department informed that distribution of rations for the month will be delayed in Manthani mandal. They sought people’s cooperation in this regard.

It is after 25 years that the entire Manthani town received heavy rains and Bokkalavagu, a tributary of River Godavari, overflowed. Water entered several colonies of the town and villages surrounding it.

Business centres, offices, schools and colleges have remain closed for more than three days, disturbing normal life of the people.
