Hyderabad: GHMC’s circles 16, 12 and 8 took the top places in the recent ranks given by the civic body on various aspects including being free of open defecation and garbage.
GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy had sent a proforma with 1,000 marks to zonal commissioners and asked them to self-assess implementation of various programmes.
The questionnaire covered sanitation works, status of open defecation, segregation and collection of wet and dry garbage, installing vermicompost pits, 100 per cent toilets, Swachh Sarvekshan.
Circle-16 topped the list with 964 marks followed by Circle 12 (952) and Circle 8 (934 marks). Circles like 1, 2, 2C, 3B, 7A, 7B, 5A, 5B and 13 got satisfactory marks in the self assessment.
Mr Janardhan Reddy said that the GHMC North Zone topped the survey with 3,583 marks (89.57 per cent) out of 4,000 followed by West Zone (87.62 per cent), South Zone (86.82 per cent), Central Zone (85.45 per cent) and East Zone (66.2 per cent).
