Thiruvananthapuram: The Admission Supervisory Committee has found that the Karuna medical college has violated the seat distribution matrix in the admission process while the Kannur medical college failed to even publish the prospectus for the admission process or provide the details of the admissions made.
The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) submitted the findings of the ASC in its report to the High Court on Thursday.
The report urged the court to cancel the admissions made to the Kannur medical college, Anjarakkandy, Kannur, for 2016-17 and make fresh admissions in accordance with the merit in the NEET rank list.
The CEE also submitted the final list of 100 candidates selected for the Karuna medical college, the list of 30 candidates admitted by the CEE in the spot admission process and the list of 30 candidates removed from the list of 100 candidates furnished by the college for irregularities.
In the case of Kannur medical college, the ASC observed that the college had not published the corrected prospectus, the total online application list, the complete list of eligible applicants with details, the complete list of rejected applicants with reasons, the rank list of the applicants, the list of proposed candidates for MBBS admissions and the waiting list on the website of the college.
In the case of the Karuna medical college, the category-wise split-up of candidates admitted by the college was found not matching the actual seat matrix. As per details, the ASC had ordered that seats under management quota should be converted to merit seats.
In the Muslims category, 13 admissions were carried out in place of five. In the backward Hindu category, three admissions were carried out though as per the prospectus of the college it should be only two.
As a general principle, the allotment to the general merit category is done first on the basis of NEET rank irrespective of category, since candidates of all the categories are eligible for general merit seats on the basis of rank.
Then allotment is done to the various category-wise quotas of seats maintaining interse merit. The seats in any of the categories are transferred to other categories as per the protocol stated in the prospectus approved by the ASC.
Though the High Court and ASC had set aside the division of management quota, admissions were held to 44 seats consisting of nine in open quota and 35 in management quota. The admission supervisory committee had ordered that seats under management quota should be converted to merit seats.
