Vijayawada: Cordon and Searches taken by city policy in problematic areas across city were showing positive results. City police after row of thefts and offences by rowdy sheeters have focused on streamlining law and order and took special drives and counselling programs. Police who identified the problematic areas in city were conducting cordon and searches in row to identify old offenders and criminals who are away from police scanner from long time. An eye was kept on Ajit Singh Nagar, Vambay Colony, Jakkampudi Colony and Krishna Lanka areas in city and around 400 suspects and old offenders were identified in searches conducted in these areas. Police conducted searches in west zone of city which comprises hilly terrains and very different geographical situations and identified old offenders and rowdy sheeters.
"Searches in city were made with the directions of the Commissioner to control crime. We have identified many old offenders in this drive and counselled them. Latest data of offenders along with Aadhaar and contact numbers were collected to update old police data," says DCP Kranti Rana.
