Bengaluru traffic cop collects Rs 65,000 fine in 9 hours

Umesh booked motorists for offences such as not wearing helmet, not using seat belt and riding without driving licence.

BENGALURU: Traffic police Sub-Inspector Umesh Udupa, attached to Cubbon Park traffic police station, on Wednesday achieved the statewide distinction of booking the highest number of cases in a day and collecting the highest amount of fines against erring motorists. In nine hours he booked 165 cases and collected a fine of '65,000 after being deployed at Anil Kumble Circle and Kasturba Road.

Umesh booked motorists for offences such as not wearing helmet, not using seat belt and riding without driving licence. The drive began around 11 am and concluded later in the evening.

Umesh got posted to Cubbon park traffic police station six months ago and before that he was working at Kamakshiplaya traffic police station.
