Senior Congress leaders stopped at Shamshabad airport

The security officials allowed only the 10 Congress leaders to go within two kilometres of the VVIP terminal.

Hyderabad: Several senior Congress leaders had a bitter experience at Shamshabad airport on Monday. The police allowed only 10 leaders to enter the airport, including TPCC Chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Shabbier Ali and R.C. Khuntia. Police told the other leaders that they had received the names of only 10 leaders from TPCC to receive Mr Gandhi.

Senior leaders like Jaipal Reddy, MLAs T. Jeevan Reddy, A Revanth Reddy, MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, former Ministers Ponnala Laxmaiah, M. Sashidhar Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu had gone to the airport on Monday. The security officials allowed only the 10 Congress leaders to go within two kilometres of the VVIP terminal.

The Congress leaders questioned the security officials when BJP president Amit Shah recently visited Hyderabad, why BJP leaders were allowed to go near the aircraft. Mr Reddy expressed displeasure over his name not being included in the list of 10 leaders. The police also prevented Congress workers from taking out a bike rally.
