Kapu Development Corporation unhappy with loan disbursement

Kapu Development Corporation to pose problems to TD.

Kakinada: The Kapu Development Corporation is going to pose a political headache for the ruling Telugu Desam as it has failed to meet the aspirations of the majority community.

The situation is so bad that not even two people in any village, got loans, thereby increasing discontent within the Kapu community, the TD, in particular. The applicants felt that though they were within the TD's fold, they could not get loans from the Corporation.

Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu set up the Corporation with Rs 100 crore to sanction lo-ans to the Kapu community for their uplift and empowerment through a subsidy. But after Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham took up the agitation, upholding the cause of the Kapus, the delegates of the government and also the Chief Minister, promised that Rs 500 crore would be released and another Rs 1,000 crore would be allocated every year to the Corporation.

But, according to one of the directors of the Corporation, only Rs 100 crore had been released out of which Rs 96 crore had been disbursed to the beneficiaries for grounding their units through banks.

It is learnt that the Corporation received more than 3.50 lakh applications out of which less th-an 34,000 were sanctioned and out of which only 16,644 units had been grounded. Even in Corporation chairman Mr Ramanujaya’s native district of Krishna, only 582 units were grounded out of 35,000 applications.

“The bankers have not come forward to give loans to beneficiaries upon a suspicion of recovery problems,” said one of the directors of the Corporation. However, it is learnt that the Corporation’s directors too are in a dissatisfied mood regarding the meagre allocation of funds. Though the state government made an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for this current financial year’s budget, till now, no amount has been given to the Corporation.

“Chandrababu should create confidence among the Kapu community by giving loans and other benefits which have been promised by him. At present, the Kapu community feels insecure that they will not get loans and other financial assistance from the government for developing their trades. Chandrababu should clear their doubts and insecurity,” said cine distributor and Kapunadu activist Mutyala Ramadas.

He said Mr Naidu has good vision, but people around him were not giving proper guidance to him about Kapus. Howe-ver, Depu1ty Chief Minister and home minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa said the Kapu community would be rendered good justice and Mr Naidu was trying to develop the community.
