GUNTUR: The differences between the ministers and TD leaders came to the fore in Guntur district on Saturday in the wake of the objectionable statement of minister for agriculture P. Pulla Rao about SC Categorisation.
Within hours of TD senior leader and former minister Dokka Manikyavara-prasada Rao objecting Mr. Pulla Rao’s statement, minister for social welfare Ravela Kishore Babu also expressed dissatisfaction over Mr. Pulla Rao’s remarks at a separate press meet. Mr. Kishore Babu told reporters that he can clarify the doubts of Mr. Pulla Rao.
Mr Kishore suggested that the TD ministers and leaders not make statements either in favour or against the SC categorisation as it is pending with the union government. He reminided that all the political parties supported SC Categorisation earlier in the AP State Assembly but that the Supreme Court dismissed categorisation. The government appointed Justice Usha Mehra Committee to resolve the issue. Mr. Babu claimed that the TD adhered to categorisation and issued GO No. 25 and accused the Opposition of provoking the SC/ST communities to gain political mileage from it.
