Vizianagaram enters Limca Records

Limca Book of Records announced on January 8, 2018 about Vizianagaram entering the Limca Book of Records.

Visakhapatnam: Vizianagaram district administration led by the district collector Vivek Yadav has gained entry into the Limca Book of Records for constructing more than 10,000 individual household toilets in 100 hours in March 2017. District collector Vivek Yadav on Saturday said that representatives of Limca Book of Records announced on January 8, 2018 about Vizianagaram entering the Limca Book of Records. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also appreciated the district administration for achieving the target by constructing more toilets in little time, he added.

This is the first instance wherein the district constructed as many as 10,449 toilets in 71 villages, of which 44 were declared as open defecation free. The feat was observed by Limca Book of Records representatives. Over 78 per cent of the individuals in Vizianagaram have toilets and Vizianagaram would be declared ODF by February 15, 2018, as constructions of toilets for the remaining individuals will be completed soon, he added.
