Bengaluru: With craters on roads and garbage strewn all over, Koramangala’s 80 Feet Road, a posh locality that houses many upscale pubs and bars, is in a deplorable condition.
The road provides the crucial connectivity between Ejipura and Viveknagar and despite being one of the busiest, little has been done to eliminate potholes and clear garbage heaps.
“Since last year the drainage work was on. Now there is a huge pile of debris. My scooter’s silencer was damaged due to that hump. Whose responsibility is to fix it,” asked Siddaiah, a resident who has been a regular commuter to M.G. Road.
He said though the potholes from Sony Junction till Passport office were filled, they have all come out.
One of the most interesting things Deccan Chronicle learnt was that the garbage at a certain part of the street near Passport Office and NGV comes under Ejipura ward and the corporators dodge questions when asked about the lack of cleanliness in the area.
Sarvesh Samanth said that due to the lack of garbage disposal system the garbage heap near the office is always huge.
“BBMP trucks are parked there and despite knowing the fact that the 80 Feet Road is a busy road, the government hardly does anything to clean up the area. The condition of the roads is really appalling. What are the civic agencies doing,” Samath wondered.
Local residents and commuters demand that the municipal agencies should set up a board where the details of the work along with the funds allotted are mentioned.
One of the commuters Abdul Pasha lambasted at the civic agencies for not completing their work in time, thereby increasing the hardship of commuters.
“They carry out the work at snail’s pace and I have hardly seen them removing the debris after the work gets completed. There is hardly any coordination between them. One agency fills the potholes, the other will immediately dig it for drainage or electric works,” he lashed out at the agencies.
There have been reports from Block 6 that due to bad roads there is surge in dust since a lot of construction has been taking place in the vicinity.

Yesterday (Saturday), we got the area cleaned. Residents and eateries from nearby spots throw garbage there. They are violating BBMP norms despite warning.
But we can still find mounds of garbage near the slum...
My ward is adjacent to the area where Ejipura is situated. Though it was difficult, I managed to get the area cleaned up. So there is no garbage in my ward.
What are the development works that have been completed?
After the completion of TenderSure roads, debris has been removed from major areas and the work is on. A lot of developmental works are still underway.
