Ring roads are highway to Telangana prosperity

According to officials, the regional ring road is the top priority of the government with the Centre funding the project.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is focusing on improving road connectivity in the capital through new ring roads in addition to the existing ones. The regional ring road (RRR), intermediate ring road (IRR), inner circle ring road (ICRR) are under consideration to ensure seamless travel within the city and from the city to the outskirts. According to officials, the regional ring road is the top priority of the government with the Centre funding the project. It will border the state capital beyond ORR and ensure vehicles travelling to Nagpur, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Vijayawada do not enter the state capital.

Another proposal is the construction of the intermediate ring road between ORR and the inner ring road. HMDA officials worked on this project in 2013 but could not make headway back then. With instructions from the Chief Minister to improve road connectivity, the metropolitan body has dusted the old file and will fine tune it. Focus is on the regional ring road first, said HMDA officials and intermediate ring road project may be considered at a later stage.

The Intermediate ring road will start from Miyapur passing through Bachupally, Kompally, Hakimpeta, Dammaiguda, Chegicherla, Hayatnagar, Balapur, Ibrahimbagh, Dargah, Gachibowli to end at Miyapur. Since these areas already have roads in place, the idea is to widen them to four lane roads for smooth travel for which land acquisition assumes significance. HMDA officials say government is focusing on regional ring road first and intermediate ring road project may be considered at a later stage.
