Special Team Visits Fireworks Godown

Dharwad: In a proactive move, the team comprising officials from Revenue, Police and Fire department conducted a surprise late-night inspection of licenced firework Gowdowns and storage units in Dharwad city on Wednesday.

The inspection was carried out under the guidance of DC Gurudatta Hegde and City Police Commissioner Renuka K Sukumar, and led by Dharwad Tahsildar Doddappa Hoogar and Assistant Commissioner of Police Prashanth Siddanagouda.

The surprise visits aimed to review safety measures in place, ensuring that all regulations and precautions were being strictly adhered to by the licensees.

This proactive move follows the tragic fire incident at a fireworks warehouse in Bengaluru, prompting the state government to direct district administration and police departments to inspect all firecracker storage facilities, vendors' warehouses, and retail shops.

Following the directions, the team of officials visited licensed cracker gowdows and storage units in various places in the City.

"These licensed establishments had received authorization to store and sell a variety of firecrackers. They have followed necessary safety measures as stipulated by government regulations and departmental guidelines. During the inspection, officials noted that two individuals who possessed licenses had not renewed them. Also they did not have any stock of fireworks," Tahsildar said.

"Each storage facility was properly examined to ensure that all rules and guidelines were being adhered to. Licensees were also provided with directives on preventative measures to avert any potential accidents and urged to adopt necessary protective measures," ACP Prashanth Siddanagouda added.
