Challan goof-up: Biker wears no seat belt, fined

The incident has gone viral on social media, criticizing the way police are carrying out their duty.

COIMBATORE: A bike rider in the city was recently fined for not wearing seat belt, triggering waves on social media.

Karthick (27), resident of Kalappatty in suburbs of Coimbatore working in a private firm, recently went to Velandhavalam near Tamil Nadu-Kerala border to meet his friend. While returning, the KG Savadi traffic wing police stopped Karthick for not wearing helmet and they verified his vehicle documents including driving license, RC book and insurance. After collecting Rs 100 as fine for not wearing helmet, they had given him a receipt.

Only on reaching home, Karthick was shocked to see the receipt issued by police mentioning as fine for 'not wearing seat belt'. Police also failed to mention the vehicle number. The incident has gone viral on social media, criticizing the way police are carrying out their duty.
